STUDIO ELMO VERMIJS (EN)

From a social and/or current societal context and through personal fascinations, locations and/or spaces are examined. The results of the research are translated in spatial (functional/practical) objects. In this work, scale, building materials, and construction play an important role. The intention is to make people aware of the impact of space on every person, both physically and mentally. This is done by bringing people together in a space or through the action the spatial object invokes in the user. The projects are usually designed for a specific type of location. Vanuit een sociale en/of actuele maatschappelijke context en eigen fascinaties worden locaties en/of ruimtes onderzocht. De resultaten van het onderzoek worden vertaald in een ruimtelijk (gebruik)object. Daarbij spelen schaal, materiaal en constructie een belangrijke rol. Het is de bedoeling om mensen bewust te maken wat ruimte voor invloed op ieder persoon heeft, zowel fysiek als mentaal. Dit kan door mensen in een ruimte bij elkaar te brengen of door de handeling die het ruimtelijke object van de gebruiker vraagt. De projecten zijn meestal voor een specifiek(e) soort locatie(s) ontworpen.
