Studio Elmo Vermijs designed and made this kitchen for his own family.

The kitchen is inspired on both new and old materials. The design consists of steel frames that are inlayed with old cheese boards. The wood and steel are joined with old-fashioned brass screws and for the drawers old found handles are used. The worktop on the wall side is an old terrazzo blade from a kitchen from the 40s and over-moulded with concrete to make it suitable for his new position. The kitchen island is a custom moulded concrete worktop with an induction cooker.

The combination of new and old materials gives the kitchen a unique appearance. On one hand tightly by the frames and on the other hand warm and recognizable through the reuse and as eye catcher the hood.
