100%Terschelling Cottage

Studio Elmo Vermijs and Leo van der Ploeg realized an information stand for the Oerol festival, where visitors can buy souvenirs and find information about the different 100%Terschelling projects. The 100%Terschelling Cottage was inspired on Terschelling’s last remaining “drowning cottage”. The design is based on local production processes and waste streams. The roof, for example, is made of old sails with a solar panel donated by Terschelling-Techniek, a company specialized in renewable energy. The cottage is constructed from discarded wood, and preserved with leftover paint from a local car paint shop.

This project was realized with the generous support of St.DOEN
