Extrapool Pavilion

Artist collective Extrapool from Nijmegen (NL) invited Studio Elmo Vermijs to design a pavilion for their presentation during Kunstvlaai 2008 in Amsterdam.

The pavilion creates an opportunity to present printed matter like books and wallpaper. It has a stage for sound performances as well. The pavilion consists of two elements: a wooden construction on the outside connected by wooden joints, and fabric that it is stretched over the construction by means of buckles and links. The wood and the fabric elements make the pavilion a whole but simultaneously create visual tensions. The openings on two sides serve as both entrance and exit, and as performance stage.
