For the exhibition Gesamtkunstwerk in the gallery E105 (formerly in Bonn) Berlin, Studio Elmo Vermijs designed and built the second version of the Crate Cupboard.

DESIGN

Crate Cupboard #2 originates from the fascination for re-use of materials, mobility and space. It consists of horizontal and vertical objects that are placed in the middle of the space. The components contrast with each other in composition, function and material. The object appears as cupboard or bench, but at the same time it functions as an autonomous sculpture. Not only the position of the user/viewer shifts, but through the use of second-hand wood the function of the material changes as well.
